Second hand info but I have a friend who knows people that left Canada because of this. I never expected JT to have a notable legacy but he has proved me wrong unfortunately
The silence about this from those peddling the concern about misinformation is as ridiculous as it is unsurprising. The allegation about the pee around the war memorial was also questionable. The articles I read about it seemed to be based wholly on a single picture of yellow snow around the base of the memorial (though if someone had more information about that it would be appreciated).
One silver lining; central bankers aren't accustomed to the same amount of ass-kissing from activist journalists as left-wing politicians are. It's the world's worst-kept secret that mainstream media in Canada is in the tank for the Liberals, and ditto media in the US for the Democrats.
Left-wing politicians in the US and Canada are currently throwing money at voters to assuage their inflation concerns (thus driving even more inflation). They know their reckless spending won't result in unfavourable media coverage, precisely because the activist journos are so openly on their side.
Central bankers, on the other hand, are still in the default state of expecting to be held accountable for their fuckups, so they will continue hiking interest rates as much as they need to in order to get inflation under control. So with the central bankers fighting inflation even as politicians actively pour gas on the fire, strap in for a bumpy ride everybody...
Unfortunately, this whole public inquiry will be for naught as invocation of the Emergency Act has no consequences for the Govt that invokes it. The EA fiasco, IMO, will ultimately come out via the sands of time, probably as a calculated political wedge that looked to be a good bet with little consequences attached.
Liberals are pathetic people.
